Addictions
Food.
Yeah, well you know there’s a ton written on food addictions. And a whole slew of people are making billions off the collective obsession with food and food-related illnesses. Authors, health advocates, nutritional companies, drug companies, life coaches, dieting firms, and on and on ad naseum.
My food addictions are interesting to me. One of them is a food I thoroughly dislike, but still over indulge in more frequently as I get older - candy. And sweets. I dislike candy - particularly American candies - because the sugar burns. But when I’m feeling really blue, one of the first things I crave is candy.
My other major food addiction is coffee. I drink to much of it - and quite honestly cannot imagine a day without coffee. It’s something I love having in the morning - the smell is incredible, sipping those first hot sips is soothing, and when the caffeine hits my mood is altered toward the positive…
Now that I’m out running every morning, however, the cravings - and my body’s tolerance fore these items - has decreased. Perhaps both simply replace some form of adrenaline that’s necessary for my being happy… I won’t miss candy during my active periods - but I do find myself mourning coffee…
<sigh>
Perhaps I will create some tribute to candy, sweets and coffee… We shall see…
