BOX STORIES

This was one of the first boxes created by artist and E&M Founder, Adrienne Fritze, and is about her relationship with her brother - 10 years her senior. The box panels each have a unique face painted on it representing the many viewpoints throughout the years the artist has held about him. In the end, she acknowledges, and is thankful for, the gift that is her brother.

THE HERO'S BOX is an amazing art/collage workshop that uses storytelling techniques to explore your inner vision of a hero, and create a collage on the unique canvas of a paper box.

THE HERO’S BOX is designed to introduce the concept of classic storytelling techniques through the exploration and understanding of the classic archetype “Hero”. We begin the exploration through a combination of classroom conversations about what constitutes a hero, doing some personal exploration using words and images, and finally by creating an atypical artwork where the canvas of the artwork is an empty paper box.

A side benefit to the workshop is that you begin to creatively explore and express your personal story in a way that strengthens your confidence, and expands your viewpoint in seeing what’s possible for you in the your life.

THE HERO'S BOX taps into your creative talents. Whether you're an accomplished artist or just like to dabble, your box will be a powerful symbol of your thoughts and emotions. All you need is a passion for self-expression and the desire to tell a story with words and images.

The following represents the major objectives to be accomplished by the end of this workshop. In the series you will:

• Understand the role of “Hero” in classic storytelling
• Create an artwork that represents one possible evolution of a Hero
• Develop a greater sense of self and belonging

And personally you will:

• Explore and use creative arts for self-expression that empowers and informs your everyday life.
